We talked that what items we should take if we have been sentenced to spend the rest of our life on an ninhabited island. We can take 12 items and there are enough water and food on the island. And we are provided with a solar generator.
The three things which I want to take is...
1, Big bucket
I will use it to scoop and store the water because water is necessary for us to live.
2, Match
I will use it to make fire because we have to use fire when we cook some foods or have a warm.
3, Camping car or tent.
I will use it to live in. I want to take camping car because there are bed, kitchen, table, and bathroom in it. It is very comfortable. However, canping car is very big so I may be not able to take it. If I can't take camping car, I want to take tent because I have to have some house on the island but I can't make house.

ARW Blogging Assignment 6

The most useful approach to use in critically analyzing The Old Man and the Sea Ernest Hemmingway is The Fisherman as Artist. I think this is the best because fisherman and artist have the same attitude to face their own job. They are proud of their jobs and they work on their jobs seriously. I don't think this story has religious meaning. This story describes old man's way of life and his solid identity as fisherman, and I don't think he is archetypal hero.

In the last ASP class, I practiced P&D. I talked about "Getting the Most Out of Your Teachers" from Meiland. There were not so much time so I didn't have enough discussion time. I thought I had to think more about time management. I could speak seeing every member's eyes than I had thought, however, I had to speak more loudly and confidently. Other members' presentation was good but there were also short time for discussion. I wanted to have more discussion time. When I give the real presentation, I want to speak more clearly and think about time well.

I learned about how to use Google presentation in the last ASP class. I was very surprised that I could make presentation pictures without power point.I thought it was very useful to save date on line. I could put some pictures and movies on the presentation pictures easily. I had though making presentation pictures was very difficult for me, but I knew that I could if I try to do. I want to use Google presentation when I give presentation from now on.

The main characters in Old Man and the Sea are Santiago, a fisherman and Manolin, a boy who helps him. Three adjectives that describes Santiago are stubbornly, patient, and lonely. He is stubbornly because he don't allow the boy going fishing with him and he is patient because he isn't angry when he is made fan of and he don't give up fishing though it is very hard. And he is lonely because he has no family and the boy is his only friend whom he meets everyday. Three adjectives that discribes Manolin are kind, brave, and clever. He is kind because he always care about the old man and he is brave because he wants to go fishing and he is clever because he have a good head on his shoulders and does many things for the old man.

The supporting piece of evidence that I found for body paragraph 1 is a date of a questionnaire that more than half of the object people think that there are time when they should tell a lie. This date supports that people sometimes have to tell a lie in their usual life.

In the last class, we talked about what the most important thing is if we get lost in the desert because of plane’s crash. The way of survive is that go to mine which is 70 miles away or go back to the flight plan which is 65 miles away. First, I made ranking of the importance of items by myself. In my expectation, the most important item was water, and next was overcoat, then third was book entitled Edible Animals of the Desert. And I thought that cosmetic mirror was the most useless. Next, we had group discussion and made new ranking. In my group, we thought that the most important item was water, next was salt tablets and third was map of the crash area. And in the group, cosmetic mirror was at last place again. Finally, we listened to the ranking which was made by professional of survival. In this ranking, the most important item was cosmetic mirror. I was very surprised to hear that. According the professional, mirror is useful to ask help because it reflects sunlight and it can be a sigh. My score was 79 and my group’s score was 84. I thought I might not be able to survive in desert. I have to learn something about survival when I board airplane.

In Friday’s ASP class, we talked about the order of rescue people supposing that they were in dangerous situation. When we thought about the order, we considered some aspects of the people. For example, it was age, sex, job, morality, and contribution to society. In group discussion, we concluded that the persons who are rescued first should be two children because we could rescue two children together. However, it was difficult to choose who to rescue after children. Should we precede younger people or older people? Or should we think about people’s job? We thought that women don’t have so much strength, but old people also will not have strength. It is difficult question. In addition, I thought about morality. Which should we choose the man who is alcoholic or the man who works hard to cure of AIDS. Finally, I thought that the best way to decide the order of rescue was random. Everyone has their own life and the importance of them is same. However, it was very hard to decide the order. At the last of the class, professor asked us who rescue first in our section if we were in the dangerous situation. It was more difficult question.

In the movie of bad discussion, I noticed something. First, member didn't see teacher's face when she talked about discussion. Though discussion started, member didn't concentrate on discussion and leader had difficulty when she tried to forward the discussion. However, leader also has no motivation and she couldn't run the discussion. Then, one of the members told her opinion and insisted it. However, she didn't listen to other's opinion and when other person started talking, she interrupted it and continued her own talking, so they attacked each other, this became a conflict. In addition, other member tried to speak something by raising her hand though she was shy. However, members even the leader neglected her. Leader couldn't gather member's ideas, and they couldn't make conclusion. I think we are likely to practice bad points in this movie. It is very possible problem. I haven't experienced conflict in group discussion but I have experienced the discussion which has no unity. Therefore, I remember this movie and try to have good discussion.
In the movie of good discussion, members listened to teachers talking carefully and they were very concentrated on discussion. Everyone paid attention to the leader and leader explained something, and member told their own opinion in turn. Everyone looked at and listened to speaker. There were no conflict and member who was shy could tell her opinion. Finally, leader summarized the content of the discussion. I think this discussion has good unity. However I wonder why there wasn't person who wrote down the contents of discussion.

Many people said twenty is the best to come of age.But some people said eighteen is best because many people graduate from high school and there are people start their job.We also talked about what the meaning of adult is. Some people said adult means people who work and can live without parents' help, but this discussion is very difficult.

Having healthy meal is important for your success in academic learning because it keeps you healty in your busy life, your brain needs nutrition when you study, and it can be good relaxation .

Watching movie in English helps us develope our communication skill because it makes us get accustomed to natural speed of canversation, know many vocabulary used in everyday conversation, and it shows us some of foreign cultures.

I am puzzled which to choose.

April 16 Blogging Assignment

According to Meiland, a “good” collage presents information in the following way. Firstly, teachers of good collage present information which is believed today with the rational basis of the beliefs. In high school, students are taught many things and they believe these because these are asserted by authorities. However, students have to have rational reasons when they believe something. Therefore, teaches must talk not only about material but also about the basis of the belief. Secondly, teachers have to present information as that is changeable. Information is treated as unchangeable fact in high school, but in collage, students have to think about other possibility and examine the possibility to know which is best to believe. Hence, teachers must present information as it can change. I agree with these ideas. Because, if I accept everything what teacher said without thinking by myself, I cannot learn the way of thinking critically. Then, I will not able to make good decision with appropriate reason when I come to face with serious problem and choice. Therefore, I think it is valuable to learn attitude that I try to find some rational reasons when I believe something. For these reasons, I think it is important for teachers to present information with basis such as evidence and with the attitude that information can turn out to be wrong and teachers can encourage students to find rational reason and think by themselves.
